Bridgette’s story
Bridgette was diagnosed with HPV-related cervical cancer
“When I was diagnosed with HPV-related cervical cancer, I was in complete shock. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the average age of diagnosis is 50 years. Though I knew HPV (human papillomavirus) could be linked to certain cancers, I didn’t think it would happen to me.”
For most people, HPV clears on its own. But for those who don’t clear the virus, it can cause certain cancers and diseases.
“As a registered nurse, I’ve always prioritized taking care of my patients, but I never stopped to think about my own health. Any cancer diagnosis is devastating and as a mom of two young kids, I struggled with being sick. Since my diagnosis, I’ve learned more about HPV-related cervical cancer and want to help raise awareness. I don’t want other families to go through what ours did.”

Dr. Ghodsi believes education about HPV can change patients’ lives.

Jim was diagnosed with an HPV-related head and neck cancer.
